Duo Majoya concert a great success

Over 200 people attended and about $600 raised at the May 25th Duo Majoya's concert at First Church.  Dr. Marnie Giesbrecht and Dr. Joachim Segger performed on the newly donated Petrof grand piano, also on the Yamaha grand piano and the 1909 Casavant Organ.  The concert was in celebration of their 10 plus years as FPC’s Music Directors.  Donations went to the "save and repair" windows fund.   The beautiful music performed was:   v Antonin Dvorak (1841 – 1904) §  Slavonic Dance in E minor, op. 72 no.2 §  Slavonic Dance in A flat major, op. 46, no.3   v Johannes Brahms (1833 – 1897) §  Hungarian Dance no. 8 in A minor   v Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 – 1791) §  III Rondo alla Turca §  From Sonata in A major, K331 arranged for two pianos by Sylvia Rabinof   v Denis Bedard (1950 - ) §  IV Romance §  V Final from Duet Suite for Organ and Piano (1999)   v Gustav Merkel (1827 – 1885) §  Andante (based on the text of Psalm 23) §  From Sonata in D minor for Organ Duet   v Sergei Rachmaninov (1873-1943) §  III Romance §  IV Tarantelle from Suite No. 2 for two pianos   v Astor Piazzolla (1921 – 1992) §  Adios Nonino §  Libertango arranged for two pianos.   Special thanks goes to the Dr. Alistair Rankin Family, who donated the Petrof grand piano to First Church.   For more information on upcoming Duo Majoya concerts, email info@duomajoya.com or visit www.DuoMajoya.com.
